Since tomorrow is the first day of November, I found it fitting to close the month of October by featuring the American VOGUE cover and editorial spread of Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon. I had the lovely pleasure of joining the wardrobe team to assist Fashion Editor Tonne Goodman during the duration of the shoot. The editorial took place in different locations around Nashville, TN: Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, downtown on Broadway, the Station Inn, Reese’s newly purchased home (which she was currently renovating), and the Elliston Place Soda Shop (which didn’t make it to print). I spent three days working with two lovely ladies to make sure everything was in order for Goodman, which included memorizing all the designers of each item in the inventory. Choices, I would learn, were often based upon the designer and not necessarily the item itself. The first day was filled with cataloging that impressive wardrobe & accessories inventory that had been flown in from New York. We had to have unpacked at least 200 pairs of shoes, enough to fill the entire conference room suite meeting table. Sorry, I don’t have very many behind the scenes photos.
It was really interesting to see VOGUE’s organization and overall methods of operation. It was a wonderful learning experience and the team was an excellent well oiled machine. Reese was a cheerful, sweet, and energetic model. Her son Tennessee even stopped in a few times during the hair and makeup changes. She would chat with us in between scenes and as we helped change her shoes, etc.
We moved the entire setup to her house the second day and worked out of it in between changes. The house was absolutely gorgeous with a pool and pool house to the right.
Special thanks to Tonne Goodman, the VOGUE team, and to Brett Warren.
It was an experience of a lifetime and I am honored to have been a part.
