Sand is a naturally occurring granular material composed of finely divided rock and mineral particles. It is defined by size, being finer than gravel and coarser than silt. Sand can also refer to a textural class of soil or soil type; i.e. a soil containing more than 85% sand-sized particles (by mass).
Giorgio Armani was inspired by sand for the spring 2015 collection. His interpretation of it was more monochromatic and textural. The collection was filled with a variety of fabric textures and printed patterns. Sand can of course be a number of different textures based on it’s association with water: super dry (cracked in appearance), dry, and wet. The collection seemed to embody all of these sand textures as well as forms. The fabric prints mimicked sand dunes blown into formation by wind.
