Mathieu Mirano SS 2014
Metallics. Crisp winter whites. French lace. Gilded pheasant feathers. Leather. Python.
The above collection descriptions sound like the makings of a sophisticated woman with a secret naughty side.
Upon entering the tents, the usual presentation frenzy began. Photographers, videographers, buyers, and press make their way inside and begin taking photos, videos and notes on the upcoming season’s offerings. Beautiful music played while the throngs of people flowed past each model who stood there patiently.

Mirano himself wore a crisp white dress shirt and stood in the middle of the room to engage in interview questions and pictures. He was so sweet to meet and was incredibly proud of his collection. The Parson’s graduate was beaming with obvious relief that his collection had come to fruition. (You can see him answering interview questions in the little video below.)
Now on to the collection.
The futuristic silhouettes seemed simple, but upon closer examination are rather detailed. The metallic python, which could easily become over powering and masculine, managed to remain incredibly feminine. The carefully thought out editing included corsets and sophisticated use of lace. The simple and sleek makeup and hair styling was easily our favorite of the week. It remained classy and beautiful, just like Mirano’s collection. (Pieces from this collection could also be included in our article about “Liquid Metal” HERE)
These designs were our favorites:
Mathieu Mirano is another designer we have seen utilize the beauty of nature. His use of python definitely enhanced his collection by adding an edgy texture while his floral lace added femininity.
